This listing is for a vintage (1950s-1960s) JOY brand brooch in the shape of a bottlecap with the word "Pop" on the top. The word "Pop" refers to soda, and is a term often used in the Midwest United States. The brooch is about one (1) inch in diameter. From my research, this does appear to be quite a rare piece.
The JOY brand has been attributed to Lester Joy, who in 1963 when on to become one of the founders of Les Bernard.
The brooch actually appears to have been created from a bottlecap and doesn't just resemble one. It appears some metal was coated over the bottlecap in its creation.
The brooch is structurally in good shape. There may be some tarnish on the brooch, but this brand is known for so-called brutalist designs, so this may just be the original look. Please see photos.
