These pieces are absolutely fantastic! It’s very rare to come across the Jewelry that was sold during the 1976 MMA King Tut exhibit. These pieces are 24K HGE, and they were sold individually. The scarab is fixed on the necklace. The 2 larger pieces on each side can slide on and off. The other 3 pieces will not fit this necklace and can be worn on a different type of chain. Each piece signed MMA. The back side of the necklace (as shown in last pic) has almost a rust like substance on the surface. Comes with an original box. Price is firm.
In 1976, the "Treasures of Tutankhamun" exhibit opened in the United States and began its tour of six different cities. The exhibit recreated Howard Carter's 1922 discovery of King Tut's tomb and displayed the many ancient Egyptian artifacts found within it-including King Tut's sarcophagus and mummified body. The exhibit became the hottest ticket in town, by the time the exhibit closed, eight million people, coast to coast, had visited.
