To connect your AirPods Max, remove them from the Smart Case, power them on, and open your device’s Bluetooth settings to select them. According to Apple customer support, some AirPods models — including the AirPods Max — were not designed to display the setup animation. This is completely normal and not a cause for concern.
Disclaimer (Updated Sept. 20, 2025):
Just wanting to be fully transparent. After further research, I found that when checking the serial number, Apple shows: “We’re sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced…” This means the original owner had them replaced under warranty but never returned the other pair.
I spoke with Apple, and they confirmed this is not my issue since I am not the original owner. I purchased these brand new, sealed in box. They do not come with a warranty, but they are in great condition. I personally opened and tested them—everything works perfectly.
The serial number matches the box and the headphones.
