A beautiful handcrafted art-glass ashtray by Murano, circa 1960's. This oversized ashtray depicts a large Swordfish / Sailfish protruding from the heavyweight glass base. The color scheme of the glass would be best described as root beer...clear glass with waves of brown coloring that fades to a milky white on the fin of the fish. The base has similar coloring when viewed from the bottom...darker brown near the center, fading to milky white at the edges.
This ashtray is massive in size - more of an art sculpture piece than a traditional ashtray. The piece measures 9” in height to the top of the fin, 12” in width at the widest point (from the tip of sword to back of fin), and 8” in diameter at the outer rim of the astray base.
The piece is still in excellent condition for its age. No chips or cracks to the glass. No surface scratches or scuffs.
