Rare Mid 19th Century Carved Ebony Workbox. This has lots of ware but is very solid. The lock does not work. It is very heavy. I’m not totally sure what it is but all the listings came up with this. These have sold at auction for a lot of money.

Carving: Extensively carved with intricate foliate (leaf) and floral designs, as seen on the lid and sides of the box.
