This is a rare 1981 Tokai Cat’s Eyes CE-700S acoustic guitar that was modeled after the Martin D-21 from the mid 1950s. The model number indicates that it was sold for 70,000 yen in 1981, so it was a high-end model. It is in excellent condition overall, especially for a guitar that is over 40 years old.
Technically this guitar is a “Snappy”, which is another branding used by Tokai during the early Cat’s Eyes era. One of the unique things about the early Tokai Cat’s Eyes guitars is that they were actually made in joint venture with Martin guitars and used Martin’s designs and American guitar building expertise.
